DELLA JONES
Della Jones, one of Great Britain’s leading mezzo sopranos, was born in Neath, South Wales, although as a long-time Surrey resident she considers herself a local girl. She was delighted when invited to be President of ‘her choir’ in which she takes an active interest.
With a wide repertoire extending from early to contemporary music, Della has appeared with all the leading British Opera companies, performing over 200 roles. Foreign engagements have included opera and concert performances in the U.S.A., Russia, Japan, Canada and throughout Europe, with many of the world’s leading conductors. Among the many high-profile occasions at which she has sung are The Last Night of the Proms and the handover of Hong Kong.
Della has broadcast regularly on radio and television both in this country and abroad, and has made well over 100 recordings with all the major record companies. Currently, Della coaches at colleges and opera studios throughout Britain, and also New Zealand.
